WESSLING is committed to greener spaces by launching a greening project at its Lyon site. On Monday December the 4th, students from the horticultural and animal breeding college at La Tour du Pin planted 175 bushes and flowers along the fence around our building. The aim is to green the environment from next summer, and the initiative is part of our company's CSR approach. By doing so, we hope to create a space conducive to biodiversity, allow rainwater to infiltrate better into the ground and improve the working environment on our site.
Elina Fakih and Clément Fournier, members of the CSR collective set up in 2023 with the aim of implementing sustainable and responsible actions at WESSLING, were put in charge of this project: "Initially, we carried out research to select plant varieties resistant to both dry conditions and low winter temperatures. As we looked around, we came across the horticultural college at La Tour du Pin and their services. Together, we decided to plant at the end of the year, even though it may seem strange: the plants are not yet dormant, so they can take root in damp soil," explains Elina Fakih. "Our aim in working with the horticultural college is twofold: we want to encourage short supply chains in our consumption patterns in order to reduce our carbon footprint, and the plants supplied were grown by the college's students. What's more, these students have the opportunity to broaden their professional experience and this project can also be a source of inspiration for them, underlining the importance of preserving and developing our ecosystem," adds Clément Fournier to explain the choice of cooperation.
By bringing this project to life, WESSLING is supporting activity in its area and not only contributing to local biodiversity but also offering its employees and the surrounding community a more pleasant working environment. The positive impact on people's wellbeing, combined with a commitment to the environment, reinforces our position as a responsible and environmentally aware company. We invite all our stakeholders to take similar initiatives and make a commitment to our planet.
