Rappel Conso: mandatory declaration of your product recalls. Remember to update your procedure!

The RappelConso website, put online by the government on 1 April 2021, is designed to facilitate consumer access to recalls of food and other consumer products.

The purpose is to centralise communications on recalls and alerts for professionals in order to improve consumer safety and information. Such recalls and alerts, in particular local alerts, previously appeared on the various sites of the administrations and companies concerned.

As of 1 April 2021, it is mandatory for companies to declare their recalls of defective or dangerous products on the website https://Rappel.conso.gouv.fr . (Decree of 20 January 2021 relating to the electronic declaration of product, food or feed recalls by professionals on a public website).

The RappelConso website provides an overview of recalls and alerts in the areas covered (human and animal food, consumer products such as cosmetics, textiles, automobiles, etc.).

The foodstuff entries, classified by family, indicate the reason for the recall, the necessary traceability information, a photo of the foodstuff, and the procedure to be followed by consumers. The same applies to hygiene and cosmetic products.

Professionals must now create an account in order to report future recalls, in particular in the event of exceeding the criteria defined in the Food alert management guide published jointly by the Directorate-General for Competition, Consumption and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF), the Directorate-General for Food, and the Directorate-General for Health (last revised version July 2009).

WESSLING will assist you with your recalls by providing interpretation of food analysis results, experience of crisis situations and independent and neutral advice on how to get operational again as soon as possible.
